Terms of Use
Last updated: March 2025
1. About CareDirectory
CareDirectory (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online directory of UK care homes. By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.
2. For families and individuals
- CareDirectory is a free information and enquiry service for families seeking care.
- We do not charge families any fee for using the directory or making enquiries.
- The information we display (CQC ratings, fees, addresses) is sourced from public data and provided in good faith but may not always be up to date. Always verify directly with the care home.
- Estimated weekly fees are based on regional averages and are indicative only. Actual fees will be agreed directly with the care home.
- CareDirectory is not a care agency. We do not employ carers or manage placements.
3. For care home providers
- Claiming a listing is free. By claiming a listing you agree to our referral fee terms.
- Referral fee: A fee of £1,500 + VAT is payable for each resident who moves in to your care home where the initial enquiry originated from CareDirectory.
- Referral fees are payable within 14 days of invoice.
- You must report placements within 30 days of the resident's move-in date via the ‘Report a Placement’ page.
- Failure to report a placement is a breach of these terms and may result in removal from the directory.
- We reserve the right to verify placements through follow-up with enquiring families.
4. Accuracy of information
Care home data is sourced from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We update data regularly but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy. CQC ratings reflect the most recent inspection and may not reflect current standards. CareDirectory accepts no liability for any decisions made based on information displayed on this site.
5. Intellectual property
All content on CareDirectory (excluding CQC public data) is owned by CareDirectory. You may not reproduce or republish any content without written permission.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CareDirectory shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on information displayed. Our total liability in any circumstance is limited to £100.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. The date at the top shows the most recent revision. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
